Information System Security Officer III (ISSO III)
BOSTON, MA · FULL-TIME
$128k — $135k/yr
Anchorage Consultants is recruiting an experienced Information System Security Officer III (ISSO III) to support highly classified Department of Defense environments. This position provides day-to-day cybersecurity and information assurance support for Special Access Programs (SAPs), Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility, and collateral classified systems supporting DoD organizations. Candidates must have hands-on experience working within Special Access Programs — SAP eligibility alone is not sufficient.
Key Responsibilities
• Review, prepare, maintain, and update AIS authorization packages.
• Support Assessment & Authorization (A&A) activities for DoD, government, and contractor organizations.
• Conduct AIS self-inspections and coordinate system security inspections, reports, and responses.
• Identify system vulnerabilities and assist with implementation of appropriate countermeasures.
• Review system test plans and provide security coordination throughout system lifecycles.
• Conduct security surveys and collect documentation required for system authorization packages.
• Maintain AIS security records and prepare Co-Utilization Agreements for network nodes operating in government facilities.
• Ensure classified systems and network nodes are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with applicable security requirements.
• Prepare reports addressing the status of safeguards applied to information systems.
• Review, track, and conduct AIS security training.
• Represent the customer on technical review and inspection teams.
• Provide ISSO support to internal and external customers.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and quality assurance to team members.
Required Qualifications
• 5–7 years of directly related information security, information assurance, systems administration, or ISSO experience.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on Special Access Program (SAP) experience.
• Previous experience as an ISSO and/or System/Network Administrator in a classified environment.
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience; four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• Familiarity with applicable DoD security policies, manuals, DCIDs/JAFANs, and related governing security documentation.
• Ability to meet the applicable DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Manager Level II certification requirements within six months of hire.
• Ability to work independently and effectively interact with DoD military, civilian, government, and industry personnel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel within the assigned Area of Responsibility as required.
Security Requirements
• Candidates must have an Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
• At least 2 years of actual SAP experience
• Eligibility for continued access to Special Access Programs
• Willingness to submit to a Counterintelligence Polygraph
Important Candidate Considerations
Because this position supports the Justified contract, candidates will be asked during the screening process whether they have already been approached or submitted by another organization for the Justified program. Candidates may also be asked about previous involvement with the Growler or Arthur contracts as part of determining current program eligibility.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cleared cybersecurity professional with genuine SAP experience to support a highly sensitive DoD mission.
Qualified candidates with the required clearance and SAP background are encouraged to apply.
